EDWARD ONOJA SPEAKS ON FORGIVENESS, RECONCILIATION AND IGALA UNITY

In a significant gathering at the palace of the Attah Igala, Chief Edward David Onoja delivered an emotional message centred on forgiveness, reconciliation and unity among the people of Igala. Speaking before Igala leaders and stakeholders, Chief Onoja asked for forgiveness from anyone he may have offended in the course of his political journey, public service or personal relationships. He also declared his willingness to forgive those who may have offended him. The gathering was organised by the Ukomu Igala Organisation as part of efforts to encourage reconciliation among Igala political stakeholders across different political parties and to promote greater unity after years of political disagreements. The message comes against the background of a highly competitive political environment in Kogi State, where political differences have at times created divisions among individuals, communities and political groups. Whether one agrees with Chief Onoja’s political journey or not, his message at the palace raises an important question: Can forgiveness become the beginning of a new chapter for Igala unity?
